These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of MyTripLog ("Service"), operated by the MyTripLog team ("we", "us", or "our"). By creating an account or using the Service you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

1. What MyTripLog Does

MyTripLog is a travel-logging service. It lets you record waypoints — locations, timestamps, notes, and photos — and organise them into trips. The Service stores trip metadata, waypoint records, and low-resolution photo thumbnails on our servers. Full-resolution photos are uploaded directly to cloud storage that you own (Google Drive, Dropbox, or similar), not to our servers.

Your photos live in your cloud. MyTripLog never receives, stores, or retains your full-resolution photos. They go directly from your device to the storage account you have connected. We hold only a thumbnail (a small compressed copy) and a reference to the file's location in your storage.

2. Accounts

You must be at least 16 years old to create an account. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account. Notify us immediately at hello@mytriplog.app if you suspect unauthorised access.

You may not create an account on behalf of someone else without their permission, or use the Service for any unlawful purpose.

3. Your Content

You retain full ownership of everything you create in the Service — your trips, waypoints, notes, and photos. By using the Service you grant us a limited, non-exclusive licence to store and display your content solely to provide the Service to you. We do not sell, share, or use your content for advertising.

You are solely responsible for the content you submit. You warrant that you have the right to share any photos or text you upload and that doing so does not violate any law or third-party rights.

4. Connected Cloud Storage

When you connect a third-party storage account (Google Drive, Dropbox, or others we may add), you authorise MyTripLog to create folders and write files on your behalf using the permissions you grant during the OAuth flow. You remain solely responsible for your connected storage account, including its capacity, availability, and any terms imposed by the storage provider.

We store OAuth access tokens in encrypted form solely to perform uploads and generate download links on your behalf. We never share these tokens with third parties. If you disconnect a storage account, we delete the stored tokens immediately.

We have no control over and accept no responsibility for the availability, reliability, or terms of any third-party storage provider. If your connected storage account is suspended, deleted, or made unavailable, your full-resolution photos may become inaccessible through MyTripLog. Your photos remain in that storage account and are governed solely by your agreement with that provider.

5. Data We Store

We store the following on our servers:

  • Your account information (email address, display name)
  • Trip records (title, description, date range, timezone)
  • Waypoint records (location coordinates, place name, timestamp, notes, category, rating)
  • Photo thumbnails (compressed copies, typically under 200 KB each)
  • References to full-resolution photos in your connected storage (file IDs and folder paths — not the photo files themselves)
  • OAuth tokens for connected storage accounts (encrypted at rest)

We do not store payment card data, government-issued identification, or precise real-time location data beyond what you explicitly save as a waypoint.

6. Data We Do Not Store

We do not store full-resolution photo or video files on our servers. We do not track your location in the background. We do not build advertising profiles. We do not sell your data to any third party.

7. Public Sharing

You may generate a public share link for any trip. When you do, that trip's waypoints, notes, and thumbnails become readable by anyone with the link, without an account. You can revoke the link at any time, after which the trip is no longer publicly accessible. You are responsible for any content made accessible through a link you generate.

8. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

  • Use the Service for any unlawful purpose or in violation of any applicable law
  • Upload content that is defamatory, obscene, or infringes third-party intellectual property
  • Attempt to access, probe, or disrupt the Service's infrastructure
  • Scrape, crawl, or systematically download content from the Service
  • Use the Service to transmit spam, malware, or other harmful material
  • Impersonate any person or misrepresent your affiliation with any entity

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these rules.

9. Service Availability

We aim to keep MyTripLog available and reliable, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted access. The Service may be unavailable during maintenance, due to technical failures, or for any other reason. We will make reasonable efforts to notify users of planned downtime.

10. No Warranty

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED. TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE DISCLAIM ALL WARRANTIES, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.

We do not warrant that the Service will be error-free, that defects will be corrected, or that the Service or its servers are free of viruses or other harmful components.

11. Limitation of Liability

TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, IN NO EVENT WILL MYTRIPLOG, ITS OPERATORS, EMPLOYEES, OR AGENTS BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES — INCLUDING LOSS OF DATA, LOSS OF PROFITS, OR LOSS OF GOODWILL — ARISING OUT OF OR IN CONNECTION WITH YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE, WHETHER BASED ON WARRANTY, CONTRACT, TORT, OR ANY OTHER LEGAL THEORY, AND EVEN IF WE HAVE BEEN ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES.

In particular: because your full-resolution photos are stored in your own cloud storage account — not on our servers — we have no ability to back up, restore, or recover them. We accept no liability for the loss of, or inability to access, photos stored in your connected cloud storage.

Our total liability to you for any claim arising from these Terms or your use of the Service shall not exceed the greater of (a) the amount you paid us in the twelve months preceding the claim, or (b) USD $10.

12. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless MyTripLog and its operators from any claims, damages, or expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your use of the Service, your content, or your violation of these Terms.

13. Account Deletion and Data Retention

You may delete your account at any time from the Account settings screen. Upon deletion, we permanently remove all trip records, waypoints, notes, thumbnails, and account information from our servers. Deletion is immediate and irreversible.

Deleting your MyTripLog account does not delete files from your connected cloud storage. Those files remain in your Google Drive, Dropbox, or other storage account and are governed by your agreement with that provider.

14. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will update the effective date at the top of this page and, for material changes, notify registered users by email. Your continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.

15. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Delaware, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-law provisions. Any disputes arising from these Terms shall be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Delaware, and you consent to the personal jurisdiction of those courts.
